About DMV Music Academy
DMV Music Academy was founded by Executive Director and CEO, Don Johns, in 2018. The academy started out as a summer percussion workshop in Hyattsville, Maryland, featuring faculty from the National Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, U.S. Navy Band, and The Cadets, and Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps.

Our Professional Development programs include clinics and workshops designed to support K-12 as well as college music educators.
The "DMV"—the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia—is home to broad, diverse communities and neighborhoods that offer arts & culture, historical landmarks, and museums. The Washington Metropolitan Area includes the whole District of Columbia, along with various districts within Maryland and Virginia. Hence, it’s nick name, the DMV. It is officially ranked the 9th biggest Metropolitan Area in the United States.
DMV Music Academy offers excellent music education, performance, professional development, and enrichment programs to all residents of the DMV Region.
Our four program areas are designed to support an inclusive community of lifelong music learners, performers, teachers, and listeners.
